Frequently asked questions
How does buying a gun online work in Texas?
You pay for the firearm here, name a licensed FFL dealer in Texas at checkout, and we ship the gun to that dealer. You pick it up there after completing ATF Form 4473 and the background check. Parts, magazines, optics and ammunition ship straight to your address.
Who runs the background check in Texas?
Your dealer does, through the FBI NICS system. Texas has no state point of contact, so the dealer calls NICS directly and most answers come back in minutes. If you hold a Texas License to Carry, ATF treats it as an alternative to the NICS call and the dealer may use it instead, though they are not required to.
How long does an FFL transfer take?
Usually one visit. You fill out Form 4473 at the counter, the dealer runs the check, and you walk out with the gun if it clears. Texas has no waiting period. If the check is delayed, the dealer holds the firearm until it is resolved.
What do I need to bring to the dealer?
A valid government photo ID with your current Texas address, and the transfer fee. If your driver license still shows an old address, bring a supporting document the dealer accepts. Active-duty military stationed in Texas bring a military ID and permanent duty station orders.
What does the FFL dealer charge?
Each dealer sets their own transfer fee, commonly $20 to $50 in Texas. Call the dealer before ordering to confirm they accept shipped transfers and ask their fee.
Do I need a License to Carry to buy a gun?
No. The Texas LTC is for carrying a handgun and for reciprocity in other states; it is not required to buy one, and since September 2021 it is not required to carry one in most places either. See our Texas License to Carry guide.
Do F1 Firearms parts ship to my house?
Handguards, barrels, bolt carrier groups, muzzle devices, lower parts kits and other non-firearm parts ship straight to your door. Stripped lowers, complete lowers and matched receiver sets are firearms under federal law and ship to your FFL dealer like a complete rifle.
Are you the manufacturer of F1 Firearms parts?
No. We are an independent Texas online store that specializes in F1 Firearms parts and stocks about 150 of them from our own shelf. Warranty questions on a part go to the manufacturer; questions about fit, availability and your order come to us.
Can you ship a gun to my house?
No. Federal law requires firearms to go to a licensed dealer. Ammunition, magazines and accessories ship to your home where state law allows, which in Texas is everywhere.
How old do I have to be?
21 or older for handguns, handgun ammunition, stripped lowers and receiver sets, 18 or older for rifles, shotguns and their ammunition. Those are federal rules for licensed dealers and they apply in Texas.
Does Texas limit magazines or ban AR-15s?
No. Texas has no magazine-capacity limit and no state assault-weapon law. Standard 30-round magazines and AR-pattern rifles ship to Texas normally. See our Texas gun laws page.
How much is shipping?
A flat $29.99 per order, and free on orders over $999.
Do you ship to rural Texas?
Yes. Firearms go to your dealer, so the address that matters is theirs; if the nearest shop is in the next county, that is still the fastest route. Ammunition and gear ship to the door anywhere the carrier delivers, and a few remote addresses west of the Pecos are served by a pickup point instead. We contact you if yours is one.
How long will delivery take?
Most orders ship within 1 to 3 business days of payment and, for firearms, once we have the dealer license. Ammunition travels by ground only, so it takes longer than the rest of your order.
What payment do you accept?
Credit and debit cards on our secure checkout page.
Are prices and stock accurate?
Yes. Price and availability are checked again when you place the order. If anything changed, you see it before you pay.
Why can some orders take longer?
F1 Firearms parts and the other items on our own shelves ship from us. Catalog items ship from partner distributors and usually leave within 1 to 3 weeks; we email you if yours will take longer. If we cannot ship an item within 30 days, you get a full refund.
Do you sell used guns?
Yes. The Marlin used gun collection and other trade-ins are marked with their condition on the listing and ship to your FFL like any other firearm.
Do you sell suppressors or SBRs?
No. NFA items need ATF Form 4 approval, which we do not handle, so they are not listed. Many rifles here are threaded for a suppressor you buy elsewhere.
Can I return a gun?
Before it is transferred to you, yes: contact us and tell your dealer not to transfer it. Once transferred, firearms cannot be returned for refund, but manufacturer warranties apply. See the returns policy for details.
How do I contact you?
Use the contact form. We usually reply within one business day.
